Lough Derravarragh is situated between Lough Sheelin and Lough Owel it is a shallow lake, elongated in a hammer shape.  Derravarragh has suffered in recent years but due to the work of Shannon Regional Fishery Board staff is on its way back and future prospects look good due to the number of immature fish growing on in the Lough. The season on Derravarragh is March 1st until October 12th.  Anglers fishing Derravarragh must have a Shannon region fisheries permit (30euro).
